This past weekend temperatures were high across the province as racers competed in two separate events.
The 38th St Andrews Father’s Day 5-Miler, a Running Room Super Series event, took place on Sunday, June 19. This event served as our Provicnial 5 Mile Championships.
In the men’s division, Dean Strowbridge finished first in a time of 27:45, Greg Sawyer in second place with a time of 28:00 and in third place Evan Arsenault with a time of 28:32. The weather looks promising for three New Brunswick races this upcoming weekend.
ThisSaturday June 18th St-Isidore will play host to the Rhéal Haché 10k. The course includes a couple of hills with a long descent toward the end. There will
be cash prizes for the top three overall in both the men’s and women’s categories. Also there will be medals for the top three finishers in each category at both the 10km and 5km distances with the first 140 registered to receive a t-shirt.

This past weekend runners had various choices in race terrains, with mainly sunny skies for those racing on Saturday and rainy conditions for the Sunday race.
The 10km Chaleur Banque Nationale CKLE , Saturday June 11, saw over 500 runners take to the roads in Beresford. Paul Gallant of Memramcook completed the 10km race in a first place time of 33:46 with Greg Sawyer of Edmundston close on his heels in a time of 33:51. |Small Strides, Healthy Lives partnership continues to encourage youth physical activity|

The New Brunswick Medical Society (NBMS) and Run New Brunswick (RunNB) have renewed their partnership to once again deliver the popular Small Strides, Healthy Lives program, which encourages youth participation in Run NB youth events.
Children 14 years of age and under are encouraged to participate in children’s races throughout the season. Race directors of sanctioned RunNB races are supported to hold events for children at distances of one to three kilometres. |Murphy and Monahan run fast and furious times|

James Murphy ran a fast and furious 5km in a time of 15:18 at the 12th Annual Rave Run held at River Valley Middle School in Grand Bay-Westfield on June 4th. Josh Shanks finished second with a 16:00 and Greg Sawyer finished 3rd in the men’s race with a time of 16:18.
Top female was Sacha Monahan who ran a very fast time of 17:59. Marcie Holland and Corinne Fournier finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Murphy was very close to challenging the course record. Murphy was 3 seconds off the record of 15:16 set by Matt McNeil in 2014.
