2016 Run NB Award winners

TRACADIE (RunNB) – Sacha Hourihan and Greg Sawyer were named RunNB's runners of the year.‎

Hourihan, of Southfield, and Sawyer, of Edmundston, were named 2016 female and male runner of the year respectively.

RunNB, the provincial organization that promotes road running in New Brunswick, presented the awards at Saturday's RunNB Hall of Fame and Awards banquet. Nathalie Boivin and Paul Morrison, two area runners, were also inducted into the RunNB Hall of Fame at the event.

The RunNB 2016 award winners are:

  • Female Runner of the Year: Sacha Hourihan (Southfield)
  • Male Runner of the Year: Greg Sawyer (Edmundston)
  • Up and Coming Male Runner of the Year: Jean-Christophe Comeau (Moncton)
  • Up and Coming Female Runner of the Year: Corinne Fournier (Saint John)
  • Walker of the Year: Kevin Standing (Saint John)
  • Inspirational Person of the Year: Joy Durdan (Grand Bay-Westfield)
  • Personal Achievement Award: Marc Joncas (Lac Baker)
  • Event of the Year: Caraquet 10k
  • RunNB Outstanding Contributor Jean-Marie Breau and Marcelle Breau of Demi-Marathon de L’Acadie.
     

The Oustanding Contributor award was unveiled at this year’s banquet. This new award is designed to honor an individual, volunteer, official, running club, or running journalist/blogger who promotes running and healthy living in New Brunswick.

RunNB had another outstanding year in 2016 and is proud of the performances of the thousands of runners who participated in more than 120 races in New Brunswick during the year" notes Rob Jackson, RunNB Chairperson.
