Blanchard Breaks National Record and other Highlights of province from this past weekend

At the Baystate Marathon in Lowell, Maine, a group of New Brunswickers competed in both the full and half marathon events.
- Patty Blanchard finished 1st among women in the half marathon event and won the W60-69 age category with a time of . Not only is Patty's result a W60-69 New Brunswick record, but it also takes 35 seconds off the existing W60-64 Canadian record! Jean-Guy Gautreau of Dieppe was the top New Brunswicker, finishing with a time of to finish 45th overall and 4th in his age category.
- Schelly Mackinnon of Fredericton was the top New Brunswicker in the marathon, finishing with a time of 3:3:28:06 to place 322nd overall and 13th in her age category. The top male was Marshall Buckley of Saint John with a time of , finishing 336th overall and 42nd in his age category.
A total of eighteen New Brunswick runners competed in the event. Three New Brunswickers achieved Boston Marathon qualifying times.
