Miramichi--Rob Jackson from Fredericton set another record on Sunday July 26, this tme in the one mile race. Jackson, a Fredericton lawyer, set the new standard for runners 60-69 by winning the Miramichi Mile in 5:00. This is the 6th NB record Jackson set this year. He also owns the NB records for:

8km in 29:47
10km in 35:57
15km in 56:14
1/2 marathon in 1:20:11
On Sunday he now has the mile record to his credit, all set this year when he turned 60. He demolished the previous mark of 5:32 set by Raymond Caissie in 2008 and won the race... >> more
|Doucet and Shanks crowned 5k provincial champions!|

Josh Shanks ran a fast and furious 5km in a time of 15:38 at the 11th Annual Rave Run held at River Valley Middle School in Grand Bay-Westfield on June 7th. James Murphy finished second with a 15:45 and Jean-Marc Doiron finished 3rd in the men’s race with another Sub 16 time of 15:51. On a special note, Rob Jackson set the NB record running a time of 17:09 in the male 60-69 age category! Top female was Shelley Doucet who ran a new female course record of 17:34. The Elite Series is a series of races in which each race awards prize money to the top three NB male and female finishers. There are currently 11 Elite Series races! All race directors are encouraged to apply for Elite Series status, as long as they award the minimum prize structure, which is as follows: 1st $80 / 2nd $60 / 3rd $40 for the top three NB male and female finishers. Races can give higher cash prizes and may also award prize money to more than just the top three male and female finishers.

|Fast and Furious Rave Run hosting the RunNB 5km Provincial Championship|

This is the 11th year for the Rave Run 5km road race. It is a school and community event to promote physical fitness through running and walking in and around the community. This year’s race will be held on Sunday, June 7th and has been chosen as the 5km Provincial Championship by Run NB. The race will also double the normal Super Series points for provincial standings for the Super Series age category competition. Races begin at 10:30 with NB Medical Society Kids LiveWell runs and the 5km race starts at 11am. The event will also be holding a school and staff team competition.

The 2015 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, May 23rd and 24th, welcomed more than 49,400 participants in six races, including the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon, the Scotiabank Half-Marathon, the Ottawa 10K, the HTG Sports 5K, the 2K and Scotiabank Kids Marathon. This world-class event welcomed 211 New Brunswick athletes running in many of the different categories over the weekend.
