Fast and Furious Rave Run hosting a RunNB 5km Super Series Road Race

This is the 13th year for the Rave Run 5km road race. It is a school and community event to promote physical fitness through running and walking in and around the community. This year’s race will be held on Saturday, June 10th and has been chosen as part of the yearly Super Series competition. Races begin at 10:30 with NB Medical Society Kids LiveWell runs and the 5km race starts at 11am. The event will also be holding a school student and staff team competition as well.

Last year James Murphyran a fast and furious 5km in a time of 15:18 at the 12th Annual Rave Run held at River Valley Middle School in Grand Bay –Westfield on June 4th.Josh Shanks finished second with a 16:00 and Greg Sawyer finished 3rd in the men’s race with a time of 16:18.Top female wasSacha Monahanwho ran a very fast time of 17:59.  Marcie Holland and Corinne Fournier finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.  Murphy was very close to challenging the course record. Murphy was 3 seconds off the record of 15:16 set by Matt MacNeil in 2014.  11 runners under the 18 minute barrier is proof that the Rave Run is Fast and Furious! This year’s course will also be certified for those runners looking for provincial and national records.

We hope all our competitive and recreational runners from near and far will be able to attend our event this year. The Rave Run will take place on Saturday, June 10th at River Valley Middle School in Grand Bay- Westfield.
