Residency Definition

A resident of New Brunswick is defined as follows:
For purposes of records a person is considered a New Brunswicker if they meet either of the following conditions at the time during which the record-establishing performance is achieved:
a) is a resident of and has domicile in New Brunswick
b) resides outside of New Brunswick but had domicile in New Brunswick for a minimum of five years prior to the record-establishing performance.
What does New Brunswick residency mean?
The athlete has a place to live in New Brunswick.
What does it mean to have New Brunswick domicile?
The athlete has their main home in New Brunswick and identifies this place as their home. For example if a person is away at college, they may have two residences (one at college and one in New Brunswick) but they may still identify New Brunswick as their ‘home’ and return to New Brunswick during vacations.
