Dear Sir,
The New Brunswick Track & Field Association Oromoto, New Brunswick Dear Sir, The 1982 New Brunswick Road Racing Series which included 24 races, prove to be very successful for all participants. Races were better organized and runners felt very safe and satisfied running in New Brunswick this summer. Some races had an increase in the number of runners, and some stayed the same.
The highlight of road racing came from runners of various Clubs throughout the province.
1) The Southeast Striders Running Club of Moncton hosted the Perfection National ional km. Championships,a very well organized weekend with Clinics, Lectures, Social Events and the Race itself, which attracted over 300 runners from all cross Canada.
2) The Restigouche Road Runners Club with the sponsorship of New Balance and Coca-Cola, ran a relay across the province in order to raise money for various charitable organizations, and promote fitness and running. The event was called "TOUR OF THE PROVINCE"!
An excellent report was obtained from all Road Race Directors. The information gathered is to help each other regarding future events.
New Brunswick have actually three well organized and well funded Clubs. They each promote Running and Fitness across the Province. Those Clubs are: The Southeast Striders Running Club (Moncton), The Restigouche Road Runners (Dalhousie), and the Miramichi Joggers Club (Newcastle).
I believe that all information coming from any Track and Field Association Office should be send to those Clubs to inform them of all activities in our Province.
I was hoping for a closer tie with the Track and Field Association Office, and it did not occur in 1982. I wish that in 1983, the Road Race Chairman and the Road Runners will have a greater knowledge of the operation in the T.F.A. Office so that we may help each other to promote running in New Brunswick.

The Chairman has attended a meeting in Cavendish P. E. I. last September on the subject of "Run Canada" in New Brunswick. A running week for Canada was the main topic of discussion. This event will be part of a fitness week through the Country from May 16 to 23, 1983 and the idea is to promote fitness. I believe that The New Brunswick Track and Field Association Office will do everything in their power to make sure that this event will be successful in New Brunswick.
I have had a discussion with the Road Race Directors throughout the Province about this event and they agreed to promote this special week in their community.
In a telephone conversation with the National Co-Ordinator of Ottawa, they have requested funds for the province plus a paid Co-Ordinator for New Brunswick through the Job Creation Program, to help organize this week with Clubs and Individuals Directors.
A meeting with all the Road Race Directors was held in Newcastle on October 18, 1982 where the Directors examine the future events for the year 1983 in which 25 to 30 road races could develop plus a Provincial 10 km. and 20 km. Road Race would be in the works for that year.
The Directors felt that they did not get enough from the Track and Field Association according to their sanction fee. So, they have passed a motion that the fees stay the same for 1983. It is hope that the Road Race Organizing Committees use the N. B. T. F. A. Newsletter in a greater Level in 1983.
It looks like a good year for Road Racing in New Brunswick for (1983).
Yours truly,
Road Racing Chairman for (1982)
